The Earth Is Melting! Ok, Not Really

PLEASE NOTE: This is an old post. I wrote this many years ago as a young(er) and dumb(er) me. While it may still hold value, and could be worth the read (I mean, I wasn’t that dumb), I would suggest you not judge the content or quality of the rest of the site on this post. Come now, you weren’t the best ever when you were younger were ya? Cut a guy some slack.

Wow… it’s smack dab in the middle of July and it’s getting HOT! I skipped outta town this last weekend and went and visited family in Colorado, observed a cousin’s wedding (which spawned many thoughts worth blogging over, but I won’t get into that), and enjoyed the coolness of a couple thousand feet of higher elevation.

However, down here in the Great Plains area of Oklahoma… it’s roasting. Last week we spent a couple days around 107 degrees. Nope, that’s not a typo… seriously. They predict more days this week to kick it in the triple digit zone.

Here in July, I find it easy to see how someone might complain about global warming. I think maaaybe, just maybe, you could make an argument for it right here, right now. Haha. Then again, that’s only for a couple weeks of the year, in a few locations. Hmm…

Could it… possibly… perhaps… maybe… just be the natural cycles that this earth has been seen to go through for hundreds upon hundreds of years? Well, not if someone’s pocketbook is involved in carbon credits and all that nonsense.

All jokes aside… I find it hard to believe that everyone is buying into this idea that we have to save the planet from our carbon. We have to save the planet, but not from our carbon!!

I have to actually be very careful not to get upset when writing this. I can’t hardly listen to AM radio because I get angry. I get all riled (:P) up at the idea that the majority of people sit around all day chillin and worrying about themselves and mindlessly buy into this thought that, “well if I support the fight against ‘global warming I’ll really be doing something for the world, so I guess I’ll support any ol politician that talks about it, and maybe watch my carbon credits.” WHAAAAT!!??

Seriously now, self education in this world, specifically this American nation, is a thing of the past I do believe. Let’s party, let’s make love, let’s listen to whatever the TV says and a few mindless famous people, and let’s support the politicians that support my wallet so I can repeat the process year after senseless year.

Before I turn this into a super long blog, get angry, get too political or anything like that (which I’m not aiming to do here) let me just skip to the point of what I’m trying to say here.

In fact, many scientists currently believe in the last few years it’s cooled down! The thing is, what we hear is based on assumptions, not facts, and mostly just greed. I wish to say: 1. Learn to educate yourself and think for yourself so you’re not sucked into stupid, sneaky agendas. 2. If you wanna worry about something, there’s much better things to go nuts over. If we wanna actually care about things, then there’s ways to do it that actually do something. Sure be responsible, but really you take care of the people on the planet, you’ll take care of the planet. Let’s be honest though, this isn’t about the planet even for most, this is about individuals caring about themselves, importance, money, and lack of meaning… disguised cleverly, but ultimately pure nonsense.

There, you could stop reading now if you wish, or you could continue on to see a little bit of the research, my thoughts, and why I think people are smarter than us, and playing you for a fool.

Ha, yea, I meant to type that. And, right now most people who read this are saying whaat? Na, ah. What’s with all the smart people talking about global warming then?

My response is this: Who the heck are you calling smart!?

When was the last time you knew a celebrity or politician who was also a scientist? Haha, ummmmm I haven’t been alive thaaat long, but I’m pretty sure I can’t recall one. It’s just not a popular field you go into when you alternatively have a degree in something useful to the world! Duh.

Next, when was the last time you heard someone talking about this who wasn’t rich and constantly wanting more? Yeaaa, yeaaa they say they’re giving money away and earning money for other projects, buuut uh, have you noticed they’re not going without… not even a little, not even at all? They buy carbon credits while they eat, drive, fly, build and live in whatever they wish… and that justifies it!??

This whole idea is so humorous to me. Until of course I think about the fact that congress is currently basing huge amounts of legislation on this ridiculous popular idea of “global warming” and monitoring everyone’s “carbon footprints.” It’s really pretty extreme.

The problem with this is not so much that the governemt is doing ridiculous things based on ridiculous assumptions, for the sole purpose of padding wallets and making it seem like they’re actually doing something productive. Then add in all the while they’re slowly taking freedoms and rights from free industry and individuals. Oh don’t get me wrong, it’s a HUGE problem, but the bigger problem is that the common citizens (that’d be you and me) ARE LETTING THEM!!! Not only are we letting them, but we’re completely and ignorantly letting them. Nobody thinks for themselves these days and for sure nobody takes the iniative anymore to research things for themselves.

Granted, it’s hard with a media that is so influenced by what will be popular, what will make money, and what will in the most surest but subtle ways turn us against TRUTH (why’s that in caps?). It actually is hard to find good reporting and good facts. However it’s out there if you wish to search, and I myself, refuse to be dumb. Plus, I refuse to let my friends be dumb if I can possibly help it.

So without further ramble, I wish to enlighten on a couple things I have discovered:

The term “greenhouse effect” is actually quite an ignorant use of the term in relation to what today’s Chicken Littles are actually trying to say is happening. Actual greenhouses work by controlling convection. Which if you recall from 5th grade science is the moving of heat through currents in a medium, obviously liquid in the air. While our atmosphere actually facilitates convection, greenhouses only work because you can control and keep the heat in or let it out and mix the air on the outside. Uh, incase ya haven’t heard, space is a vaccuum and this term “greenhouse effect” that they throw around is actually monitoring radiation, not convection.

Soooo, you might start to realize here… these gases are not a blanket, they don’t monitor convection. They’re not blanketing the earth, and do not permanently “trap” heat!!

Still, in general, the term “greenhouse effect” is used to describe the flow of energy (that means heat yea) between the earth surface and the atmosphere, and the term “global warming” is used to describe the “how much” of it.

Ok so let’s get past the fact that we’re too dumb to even name our concerns correctly and ask, “So what’s the big deal? What’s the worry over?”
Well that’s a good question. While I can understand “convection and radiation” differences I can’t claim to understand everything about the atmosphere and how it works. It’s really quite an amazing design (which some have the audacity to say “just happened, from… nothingness”). Here’s what I do know though. Our gases around our planet keep us alive by more than just giving us something to breathe. Our moon that doesn’t have the so called “greenhouse effect” fluctuates in temperature of over 200 degrees a day. So really it’s necessary to keep our planet habitatable.

Now of course any smart feller is gonna say, “Well that’s exactly the problem everyone’s getting worked up over isn’t it? We’re warming up too much!”

I can’t even begin to go into how the atmosphere works and if you look into it yourself what you’ll find is a lot of talk on wavelengths, temperatures, radiation, thermal equilibrium stuff, graphs, and crazy symbols that you can’t even draw yourself without some training. So, while it’s interesting reading it doesn’t make for interesting writing on my part.

Let me stick to the simple: The atmosphere does not “trap” the heat. Eventually, it is released. There is nothing permanent about what’s happening. Also, even the most trusted tests can’t do anything but guess, in disagreement, about what the earth’s mean temperature really is! Then let’s throw this out there too: carbon dioxide is a tiny percentage of the “greenhouse effect” with around 90 percent of the “effect” being caused by water!

But, it’s harder to raise a riot over water since it’s obviously oh-so necessary, people in this world don’t have enough to even drink, aand we don’t drive water vapor powered vehicles, or fart “ozone destroying” water vapor.

So let’s get real here now and maybe forget out bank accounts for a bit. Reality is that carbon dioxide isn’t doing anything bad in the first place, and in the second place, humans are only responsible for under 4% of the carbon dioxide put into the air annually anyways. The rest is natural. Yeaaa, it’s natural process that, lest we forget, is essential for food production. Plants use it like crazy, aaand give it off too. Plants will produce waaay more of it than we ever will.

The fact is that carbon dioxide in the air really has increased since the industrial revolution, there’s no denying it – a whoppin (unknown for sure but less than) 3 percent, I think. If water in the atmosphere fluctuated that much it’d do twice the damage of what carbon does.

So it’s probably time to point out that the world population has increased over the last years too right? Right. Well given those two tidbits of information isn’t it pretty convenient that our world food crop supply has increased by around 15% since the 1950’s due to “increased aerial fertilization of carbon dioxide.” Have we forgotten that increased carbon iiis actually like fertilizing the forests and encouraging higher production of lumber. Thus meaning less need cutting and replanting! Dur.

It’s what greenhouse growers do for larger production. With an increase in world population, so many starving, and carbon dioxide only helping to produce larger and better crops… could it be we have our concerns completely out of order? Does this surpise anyone though??

Wow, could it be, that there is a designer of it all… that sure seems to know what He’s doing?

Isaiah 45:18 For this is what the LORD says- he who created the heavens, he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it;
he did not create it to be empty but formed it to be inhabited-
He says: “I am the LORD and there is no other.”

Really you start to notice, I could talk about the science of this stuff all day. I could tell you how our atmospheric temperature increases and decreases monthly because of tons of factors by around 10 C, and the estimated increase over the last 120 years is something like 0.5 C. Our century increase is much less than the margin of error in just recording the stupid data. Haha, it’s enough to make a person feel like an idiot for listening to celebrities and political rubbish.

I could tell you that acting like your concerned for the planet doesn’t actually make you a good person. I could tell you that someone is smarter than us for getting to a place of public notice and acting like they’re concerned about something so that people will give them more money and they’ll be public figures.

I could tell you that the high estimations you always here about are from people who make computer models and base their info off of models that are themselves based off of tons of assumptions, and definitely can not and do not reflect the real world conditions and factors.

I could tell you that the info Al Gore quoted forever and ever (and got a Nobel for!) is outdated information that was never really proven fact anyways. As calls it, “gorebull warming” (lol) is a load of crap. I could tell you that tons and tons of creditable sources and scientists claim that we could have next to nothing to do with the 0.5ish percent increase over the last century, that it could be just the earth’s natural cycles, aand that data over the last few years suggests it might actually be cooling again.

Really though, you’ll believe what you want to believe, and whatever is most convenient for you. Sad, but true.

The earth does this stuff you know. I was reading a website where a man pointed out, “Greenland was once named Greenland cause it’s coasts were once green.” haha. True that.

The second to bottom line is this. I could tell you all sorts of information, and you will still believe what you want to believe in relation to your motives.
Why does nobody hear the about the other side of this garbage? It doesn’t pay well. The media loves computer model’s extreme predictions, it makes for good headlines. Researchers love hype because it makes them feel important and has gained them well over 25 billion dollars in research money since 1990. Celebrities like it cause it gets them more publicity and makes them feel important. They, and the average citizen, soak it up just because it’s so much easier to talk about something like that and maybe even buy a “green” this or that and watch “carbon credits” than to actually face the real problems in this world.

This is only a blog, not a research article. I compiled my info from all over the place as I’m sure anyone could do who wants to support either side. I’m saying we need to learn to think for ourselves, and to get our priorities straight. That’s all.

Give some money to the starving nations. Speak out against some real injustices. There’s plenty of options; it’s a matter of caring about people, not money.

And then, the very bottom line: God’s got it under control. You can trust him, and how he said the earth will end, it’ll end. Global warming is the least of your worries when God acts to end things as we know it. Oh my… oooooh my… (Read the book, you’ll get it.)

Isaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment
and it’s inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.

1st Samuel 2:6-10
“The LORD brings death and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave and raises up.
7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts.
8 He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes
and has them inherit a throne of honor.
“For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s;
upon them he has set the world.
9 He will guard the feet of his saints,
but the wicked will be silenced in darkness.
“It is not by strength that one prevails;
10 those who oppose the LORD will be shattered.
He will thunder against them from heaven;
the LORD will judge the ends of the earth.
“He will give strength to his king
and exalt the horn of his anointed.”

P.S. Who the heck claims to know what ideal temperature is anyways!? How do we know we’re not actually getting somewhere good, and last century was half a degree too cold!? Everything, including people, thrives better in warmer climates than cold! I’m gonna stop typing though, Rush Limbaugh might get scared I’m gonna take his job or something.

  1. Danggg, I read every word of this and I couldn’t agree with anyone more. People believe what they hear everyday, it doesn’t matter what type of media. Money is what this world has came to, people will lie and decieve all they can to try to fill there bank accounts while the normal person would fill there brain with the mindless things they are campaining. I do beleive that this world was made to substain lots of things, also I beleive this world will come to a end when god says it is enough, it won’t end with globle warmming, if people would really think about back in prehistoric times, you know dinosours, all nature, no money, but the earth came to a end. Why? Because it’s a Natrual

  2. Thanks for making my brain hurt and honestly you almost lost me at convection….but I managed to steer my attention back to the matter at hand…lol I started commenting on this and it ended up being outrageously long so I summed it up…

    This human race seems to think that there HAS to be a scientific explanation for everything that happens. If only we could stop trying to “understand” why things happen and just trust that God has everything under control! God created many things in this world that we are not supposed to fully understand. That is just how it is. I think He did this so that we are left in awe and wanting to know more. But then I guess that leads to having to have a scientific explanation for everything for some. I also believe it is meant to remind us of just how great and powerful He is.

    I like the comment you made “take care of the people on the planet and you will take care of the planet…” That is so true. If everyone would start caring about each other, genuinely caring, with the right motives, then wow how amazing would this world be? But the devil always has to get his two cents in.

    We are natural sinners. So it is all too natural for us to be self reliant and self centered. That reminds me of how amazing it is that God is will to forgive an infinite amount of times. Generally speaking. (That is one of those areas that I am left in awe. :)) Not being all about “me” is something that we cannot accomplish ourselves. It is 100% God and 0% us. There are a lot of sayings about living life to its fullest. But people don’t realize that their version of “living life to its fullest” and enjoying the “pleasures” of this world are in actuality leading them to death.

    You’re right, all this hoopla about global warming has nothing to do with when the world will end. The world will end when God wants it to and undoubtedly it will be the best for all of us.

    Thank you for writing this….it made me check my motives and to look at the bigger picture and not get caught up in what this world is all about as I do much too often.

    1 Timothy 6:10 “For the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.”

    Matt 6: 20 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
