The New Rules For Love Sex and Dating [Video] [Resource]

In keeping with the subject matter of the last post, which spiked my traffic rather significantly (telling me there’s interest in that matter), I thought I’d post one of my all time favorite resources on this matter. This was a sermon series done at North Point Church by Andy Stanley on relationships, dating, sex, marriage and such. This is some top notch content, and to be honest, I’ve used much of what is in this series of messages when I …

“How Soon Do I Begin Thinking About Marriage?”

marriage begin thinking about hard prepare preparation
The future is made in the present…

Since the vast amount of people I deal with most often is college students, I’m often asked, “When does a person begin to think about marriage.” It’s a great question, and I’ve learned a lot about this the hard way. So, my answer surprises many, and is often very different from what many hear from parents, friends, culture, and what most people call “common sense.”

Marriage In The Age Of Apocalyptic Romance [Video]

This is a great video clip (view the full post to see it) of one of my favorite pastors, teachers, scholars and theologians, along with his wife, Tim and Kathy Keller,  in a recent interview they had on romance, marriage, friendship and dating. It’s loaded with great counsel and truth to think on. A lot to consider here, and they said it well, so I just thought I’d pass it on. What’s your favorite point they make or thought they …

Are We Addicted To Social Media, I Mean, Ourselves? [Infographic]

I ran across this info-graphic (view the full post to see it) the other day and I just felt compelled to save it and share it. It addresses something I’ve been thinking and reading a lot about lately – addiction to social media. I addressed this as I was noticing it last year after a 7 month absence from Facebook (A Facebook Observation). So I think the saddest part of this is not that people are obsessed with posting about …

Confirm Calling, Be Fruitful & Effective

Here is the video of the nearly impromptu sermon I preached this Sunday for CrossPoint Wakeeney Church in Wakeeney, KS. We looked at 2 Peter 1:2-8 and how to confirm your calling as a believer, and be fruitful and effective in life and ministry. We’re given a great process to check ourselves on in our growth and struggles, and with this we are told we have everything we need for what God has for us to do right now! The …

Since When Was It Shameful To Say, “I Don’t Know”?

An overwhelming new trend is sweeping the everywhere. Anyone who doesn’t do it deserves to be nowhere. If you don’t practice it, you’re a nobody. It makes you powerful, effective, everyone’s favorite and more! Whether you’re in leadership, ministry, or any kind of relationship, you’ve no doubt seen the effects of this at least a few times! What is it you ask? Well, ya big dumby: It’s called Knowing Everything! *rolls eyes* I can’t believe you didn’t know that. Sheesh… …

Why We Think We Must Know Everything & Hate To Say We Don’t

I believe there’s a difference in understanding we should have a desire to know important things, and seeing that it’s not important to know everything. So if you’ve read my other post, Since When Was It Shameful To Say, “I Don’t Know”?, then you’ll know in that one I’m asking, “How do we create a culture that has a hunger to know more, yet the freedom to say when we don’t know something.” Either before or after you read this …

Get An Apologetics Toolbox: Why We Must Address The “Why” Of Faith

It seems I’ve been talking, writing, and learning much about investing in others lately. With all this thought, I believe it’s important to address the idea and the use of apologetics – the defense of the Christian faith. We must explain the why if we’re telling the what, and this means you need to know how.

toolbox apologetics defend faith argue buid construct
Because our faith isn’t blind…

The use of apologetics can be a dangerous weapon or an effective tool. In the establishment and construction of a person’s faith, there may be individuals, times, or phases that call for different methods and even tools. Apologetics is that proverbial toolbox that allows a person to discern the need and apply the right tool at the right time.

This isn’t meant to be an explanation of those tools at all – I plan to start that soon – but more so a persuasion that helps you see the need for your toolbox.
